The LCSS has its origins in a series of seminars on "Life cycle management for sustainability" given in the autumn of 2011 at the Faculty of Economics of University of Salento. In view of the interest shown in this topic, it was decided to structure an international summer school on a permanent yearly basis to highlight the importance of life-cycle approaches to sustainable development. Regional development was give particular priority as an issue on which further use of life cycle approaches would be useful.
With the support of University of Salento and the sponsorship of Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank, the LCSS (Life-Cycle Summer School) has been successfully running every year, initially held in Lecce (Italy) then in Santa Maria di Leuca (Italy), and in 2015 in Bordeaux (France).
The LCSS is open to mature students and young professionals from around the world. Expert professionals give their time to lecture to students, act as resource persons in workshops, and engage in discussion forums and individual debate with students.
